Short Biography

I am an Associate Professor with the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Prior to joining XJTU, I did a Postdoc from 2020 to 2023 at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), working with Prof. Tieniu Tan and Prof. Zhaoxiang Zhang. I received my PhD in Statistics and BS in Applied Mathematics from XJTU in 2020 and 2013, respectively, under the supervision of Prof. Jiangshe Zhang. I spent a wonderful year (Oct. 2017 – Oct. 2018) as a visiting PhD student with the Department of Computer Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I was hosted by Prof. Oluwasanmi Koyejo.


Research

My research interests include brain-inspired learning (e.g., predictive coding, free energy principle, attention, memory, etc.), multimodal learning, and generative model, with a special emphasis on the intersection of machine learning and computational/cognitive neuroscience. The central goal of my research lies in enabling machines to perceive, understand, and interact with the world effectively and efficiently.
